Doing Better...I think

Julianne seems to be doing better with her feedings when we hold her upright or sit her all the way up in her crib.  She's still vomiting at some feedings, but not ALL of them and also it seems like she's vomiting smaller amounts.  Maybe its just our imaginations, but it would appear to be an improvement.  They've increased her calories by 2 more calories today so we'll see how she tolerates it.

We should find out something definite on Monday about whether or not we're transferring to a New Orleans hospital.  I kind of have mixed feelings about it.  It will be nice to be closer to home, but at the same time its scary going to a hospital where they know nothing about Julianne except what they've been told.  More than likely, they've told us, she'll go home on a feeding tube.  So, we'll have to learn how to use that.

Kent and I are checking out of the Devon Nicole House today.  Our reservation was only through October 21st and they did not have any availability to extend our stay.  We're checking into a retirement home that rents out one floor as hotel rooms today.  Everything else was COMPLETELY sold out.  I suppose its a bad time to look for a hotel when the Red Sox are playing for the pennant.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.  Thank you for your continued prayers and words of encouragement.  I thank God everyday for all of the people we have praying for and supporting us.

So glad to hear that Julianne's feedings are getting better! Sounds like sitting her up to feed is paying off after all. Learning how to do a feeding tube isn't as bad as it may seem, I dreaded learning how to do it but once I learned how, it wasn't nearly as hard or unpleasant as I orginally thought it might be. Good thing you already bought the stethascope, you'll have to have it to listen for placement. I'm surprised that the hospital didn't have a disposable one for you to use, our hospital gave us a disposable one. Fortunately, Ethan got over his feeding issue a few days before we got discharged so we didn't have to actually go home on it, but we did have to go home with oxygen as a precautionary measure only. As for being transferred to a hospital at home, I can see how you'd have mixed feelings. We were fortunate to have our hospital only about an hour away...but if I were in your shoes, I think I'd still like to go ahead and be back in familiar territory as soon as possible. Also, in case you do have any more issues, your local hospital will be a little more familiar with Julianne's case if she's already spent some time there getting to know the staff around the clock. That's my 2 cents. We're continuing to pray and check your blog daily. You're faith and strenght is a great testimony to all who know and read about Julianne's story. If you ever need to talk, feel free to email us through our website: www.ethanmiles.com. I know just what you're going through and it really helped me to have others to talk to who had been in my same place.

Blessings and Peace,

Julie Miles
