Saturday Happenings

Overall Julianne had a decent day. She had her eyes WIDE OPEN when we got in this morning. She looked at us for a while. Then when we put her stuffed dog that we got her in her bed she was mesmerized by him.

They'd given her methadone as we mentioned earlier, to help wean her off of the narcotics. Coming off of the narcotics was a little hard for her. She vomited a few times and was very restless. In addition to that, Julianne kept grabbing and swatting at her ventilator tube. Nurse Megan gave her another drug to relax her and she looked A LOT more comfortable after that.

They'd been talking about taking out Julianne's ventilator today. However, a chest x-ray revealed that her lungs were still a little wet so they thought they may wait until tomorrow to remove the ventilator. After they showed the x-ray to the attending doctor he decided to go ahead and take it out tonight. So, around 6:30 they decided to go ahead and take out her ventilator. We were super excited! She looked so much more comfortable without that tube down her throat. Here are some pics and a video:

After they took the ventilator out she sounded a little "wheezy" so they gave her a breathing treatment. Then she wasn't breathing as heavy as she was in that last video.

She seemed to be doing well when we were leaving. She was having some arrhythmias again so they were testing her electrolytes to try to get that under control.

So, Julianne is moving right along. We may be able to hold her tomorrow and possibly even give her a bath!

Thank you, God for another great day!
