Mother's Day

Julianne, Kent and I spent Mother's Day in Zachary! We were able to attend the 11:00 service at the Plains Church. It was SOOOO great to be able to let Julianne meet many of the people who've been praying for her and encouraging her daddy, mommy and the rest of her family, over the past year!

Speaking of the past year...if you remember, around the end of March I posted that we'd known about Julianne's heart for one year. Well, I was wrong. We actually got her diagnosis on April 30th not March 30th! NOW we've known for about a year. :)

A year ago on Mother's day we'd only known for a few weeks about Julianne's heart. Things have come so far in a year. What a happy day it was for me to celebrate my own wonderful mommy and celebrate being the mommy to a little baby that, only one year ago, we weren't sure would be here to celebrate with us. We're so thankful for the blessings we've been given over this past year and always. We spent Mother's day with my mom, dad, Laura, Grandpa and Grandma and had some yummy, yummy seafood for lunch!

Julianne is growing up so fast! Just this past Friday our suspicions that Julianne has been teething were confirmed. There's a tooth coming out!! Its not all the way out yet, but see if you can spot it in the picture below. You can get a larger view by clicking on the picture.

Julianne is now reaching out, with arms completely outstretched, to grab things! Here she is trying to grab the camera.

She's also been working really hard at gaining some upper body strength. During Julianne's first several months of life she didn't tolerate being on her belly at all. She'd cry, gag and just put her face down onto the blanket. Then she started tolerating it, but she'd just lay there and suck on her hand. Now, as you saw in a picture in a previous post, she'll lift her head and shoulders! We're so excited. Not that she's demonstrating that in this next picture...I just thought the picture was cute.

Here's a video of Julianne trying to lift that heavy, heavy head. :)

Julianne is growing and learning more and more everyday. She is a little behind on her development, but she's continually improving and that's important. Early Steps is coming on Friday for us to choose Julianne's therapist. Hopefully the therapy sessions will start shortly thereafter.

She should have a swallow study some time in the next couple of weeks. After that, we should be able to start working on feeding Julianne by mouth again.

Thank you so much for all of your continued prayers and support. They mean so much to us!

Love that cutie little girl lifting her head up during tummy time. She's so talented! Julianne will be eating seafood right along with you two in no time. Love you all. Glad you got to spend your 1st Mother's Day with your mother. Cherish her, Jessica.

It was such fun to finally meet Julianne on Sunday. She is just as adorable in person as in her pictures. What did she think of all the strangers who were so friendly to her? I love the way you dress her. She is a regular little fashion plate. I can't wait to see her again.
