That Was Quick!

We heard back from Julianne's Boston Cardiologist today. He feels that Ochsner is definitely capable of handling Julianne's needs for this surgery and does not feel that she needs to be in Boston for this one. We also met with the surgeon who would perform the surgery. After hearing from the Boston doctor and meeting with the surgeon, Kent and I both feel more "at ease" about Julianne having her surgery in New Orleans. She will be in capable hands. :) She will be in more than just the capable hands of the surgeons, doctors and nurses. As always, she will be in God's all-powerful hands, as she undergoes this surgery.

Much to our surprise, Julianne's surgery will be this Tuesday, April 15th! We have to be at the hospital at 6AM. The surgery is scheduled to begin at 7AM and should last 1 1/2 to 2 hours. She will, more than likely, spend the night in the Pediatric ICU and then remain in the hospital until Friday or Saturday. Ochsner friends, we'll be seeing you soon!! You won't believe how big she is!

We are not looking forward to sending her off to the operating room again, but we are ready to get this over with. We had hoped that Julianne's GI issues could be resolved without surgical intervention, but that was not the case. After she has this surgery, we will feed her 100% by g-tube for 5-6 weeks, have a follow up swallow study, and if all is well, we can start trying to feed her by mouth again.

Please pray for Julianne's safety and healing for this surgery. Please also pray that this will help with some, if not all, of her problems. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and for checking in on our little buggaboo!

We're glad to hear you all can stay down here. That has to be a relief to be close to family.

We will pray that all goes well with this surgery and that she's able to start feeding by mouth.

She has come such a long way. Like I've said before, she is one tough little cookie. She will pass with flying colors. Before you know it, she'll be eating you out of house and home!!

All our love and prayers are with you.

XOXOXOXOX

I am so glad that you won't have to travel to Boston again for the next surgery. I will be praying for safety for Julianne during the surgery, wisdom for the doctor's, and a speedy recovery. I will also pray that her reflux issues be resolved with this surgery as well. I know you hate to see her go back in the hospital, but I think you will be really pleased with the g-tube. Julianne is such a trooper!

We will be praying for Julianne and the medical team on Tuesday. It is a really fast procedure (maybe an hour- two hours with all the drug time) compared to what we are used to. We'll be praying for you and Kent as you get used to the g-tube, too. I know you didn't want to have to go this route but, as always, if it's best for her then it's what has to be done. She's such a strong a little girl...this should be a cake walk for her!
Many prayers~ Rebecca

Thanks so much for the updates and pictures! I will pray for you all during the surgery for safety and a quick recovery.I continue to thank God for the talents and wisdom that He had given to the Doctors. The g-tube will be easy for you to handle-we learned quickly about it for Emma Kate. So glad you can do this in New Orleans.

God bless,
