Sorry for the Late Update

Julianne is moving forward.  The ventilator is being weaned down and the goal is to extubate her tomorrow.  That will depend on how her chest x-rays look and also on how she does overnight.

She has had a "Junctional Rhythm."  This happened last night and again this morning.  Both episodes were very brief.  Basically, her heartbeat started in the wrong place in the heart.  Then it caused her blood pressure to drop.

We just talked with the attending doctor and he said that they've been talking about it today with Electrophysiolgy and with Julianne's surgeon and they agree that we're probably seeing some side effects of the Amiodorone that she's on to control her Arrhythmia.  So, they're stopping the Amidorone IV for tonight.  They've assured us that the Amiodorone stays in the tissues and stays in her body for quite a while, so she should not have her arrhythmia just because they took her of the medication for tonight.  They're going to watch her tonight and evaluate the situation again tomorrow.  The doctor said that its important to weigh the benefits of the drug against the side effects.  That's why they want to stop the IV for now.

She's also staying a couple of degrees cooler than she should be.  The attending doctor said that this could be another side effect of the Amiodorone.  They're going to do a test on her Thyroid function.

More than likely she will go home on the oral version of Amiodorone.  Its just a matter of adjusting the dosage.

So, to sum it all up, she's off Amiodorone for tonight, she'll be watched closely and the situation re-evaluated tomorrow and Monday.

We thank God for Julianne's continued improvement, for all of the support we've received from our family and friends and for protecting her from any permanent damage thus far.  Please continue to pray for Julianne's healing, that the doctors will know what dosage of what medication is the best option for her and that she'll be protected during this wait and see period.

We'll try to post some new pictures tonight.
