Surgery Tomorrow

Hey everybody! This is just a quick update because I really need to get to bed. :)

Last night went fine. There was nothing unexpected. Julianne slept better than I thought she would, which allowed me to sleep better than I thought I would too. Julianne got a total of 6 hours last night and I got 4 1/2-ish. She did nap 3 times today though. One of those naps lasted 3 hours or more, so I think she's doing well sleeping. She's been sore today, which is to be expected. Tonight when I put my hand on her chest her heart felt a little fast so I checked her heart rate. It was in the 130's, which is a little high for her. She also had a slightly elevated temp. I called EP just to make sure he thought all was well and the heart rate was from the temp and he did think that. He thought she could be about to spike a fever. So, we're staying on top of the fever with Tylenol and watching for any changes in her cath sites. Please pray that she will be fever free tomorrow morning. Fever and surgery don't usually mix.

Julianne's surgery is still scheduled for tomorrow. She is 2nd case so we don't have to be there until 11. We spoke with Dr. Pigula today and he said that because of Julianne's size he may be able to do what's called an Extra-cardiac fontan as opposed to the Lateral Fontan that we'd expected. He would prefer to do the Extra-cardiac because he would not be cutting into her atrium as he would with the Lateral. He won't know for sure which one will be better for Julianne until he opens her up. The heart does not have to be stopped for the Extra-cardiac Fontan as it does for the Lateral. She will be on bypass regardless of which one he does.

We expect Julianne to be extubated probably on Saturday. She'll probably spend 2-ish nights in CICU and then head to the floor. The hospital recovery time is estimated as 5-10 days. Which would be AWESOME and quicker than we expected!

I do have some great pictures from today, but I didn't have a chance to upload them. I will try to get those on tomorrow. Thanks so much for all of your prayers and sweet words for us. We are blessed to have so many who care about our family. :) Please continue the prayers for our JuJuBee as a I know you will.

So glad that you all had some rest yesterday and time to enjoy together.

I am praying that they can do the extra-cardiac and that God guides the surgeons hands, heart and mind as he works to make Julianne's life even better than it is now! Also praying for Mom and Dad that God will give you peace in knowing that he is with you always even in this storm.

I love you all sooo much and you all will be constantly in my heart and in my prayers today.

Please give Julianne a kiss for me!

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
(Psalm 31:24)

Love to you all,

Psalm 121:1-5
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand
