16 Months

16 months old

Well, I haven't been very good at keeping up the blog this past month, but I hope I will keep up with month 16 better. :)

Julianne is 16 months old now. She weighs a little over 25 pounds and is 31 inches tall. She says A LOT of words and she is even putting words together:

"More song."
"More book."
"No water."
"No puzzle."
"Err's (Where's) mommy?"
"Err's (Where's) daddy?"
"Lie down."

And, as she enjoyed repeating over and over again while riding in the buggy through Babies R Us: "Ah gas...hmm? Or poop?" (translated "Was that gas, hmm? Or poop?" I guess I must say that a little too often). That's just a short list of some of the things she can say. I honestly can't believe all of the things she can say! One morning while she was in the hospital a few weeks ago we had the following conversation as soon as she woke up:

Julianne: "Ah mornin'!"
Me: "Good morning, baby."
Julianne: "Poop."
Me: "Do you need me to change your diaper?"
Julianne: "Yes."

Sure enough, she'd pooped. It seems unbelievable, I know. The girl just has a gift for language I guess.

Julianne loves reading books with us. She says, "Ah book? Reeeeed?" Then, depending on how much she liked the book, will proceed to sign and say "more" over and over again. She has a few books in which she's memorized many of the words and can complete the sentences for us. Some favorites right now include:

"How Big is Baby Elmo?"
"Christmas Peek-a-boo"
"Bear and Kite"
"The Foot Book"
and
"Bedtime Peek-a-boo"

In addition to talking and reading, Julianne has been standing for longer periods of time, stacking blocks and crawling...that's right CRAWLING!!!! Not like crawling all over the house or anything. The farthest she's crawled (not scooted or twirled) is about 3 - 4 feet. We are super excited about this new development! I am trying to get a video.

Another exciting development is that Julianne is drinking formula and water from a sippy cup!!! I know, I know...I can't believe it either. She's consistently taking about 20 ML (2/3 ounce) at each feeding. This is still no where near what she'd need to sustain herself (she gets 30 ounces of water & formula per day), but its a MAJOR improvement and more than we have EVER gotten her to drink at home. In fact, I think the most we EVER got her to drink while in the hospital a month or so after she was born was about 30 ML! So, it is great that she's consistent and even greater that she's asking for more...she says "formya?"(translation: formula).

Finally, as promised, Christmas pictures:

What a great update! When I saw that first photo, I thought to myself "She doesn't look like a baby any more!" Perhaps it was the zippered hoodie, but she just has that "toddler" look about her now! Then, to read that she IS in fact, standing and crawling and sippy cuppin'...! Way to go Julianne! -Claire

It is hard to believe that this is the same little baby born in Boston.

Julianne is so much fun to be around with her big smile and all the things she can say.

I think that she is developing a great personality.

The Christmas video was so nice thank you for sharing it with all of us.

I will be looking forward to the year in review!

Love and kisses to all,

They just grow too fast! My littlest just turned 2 and it is such a blessing to hear those first words and sentences.
