Home from the Hospital and Back to the ER

Well, we made it home around 7:30 /8:00 on Wednesday night with instructions to perform twice daily rectal irrigations on Julianne until we hear the outcome of the biopsy. The American Academy of Family Physicians describes rectal irrigation as being:

"... performed by pushing normal saline into the colon through a rubber catheter; this allows for discharge of gas and stool. The saline (10 to 15 mL per kg) is pushed through the tube, and it is allowed to empty at 10- to 15-mL increments as the catheter is advanced gently."

It is a VERY messy, two-person process. We've done it twice since getting home and we're going to do it again in about 20 minutes. Julianne doesn't seem to mind it too much. Sometimes she likes it.

Thursday morning I went to give Julianne her meds through her tube and the syringe wouldn't budge. I called her doctor and he said to go to the ER because they couldn't do anything with the tube in the office. So, back to the ER we went. The tube had a kink in it inside her belly. She ended up getting the old tube (old as in, got it on Friday) pulled out and a new one put in. Another stressful day for Julianne.

This morning we were up extra early due to vomiting again. I feel so sad for her. I want her to just have some time to rest and be comfortable.

Please continue to pray for Julianne and her little belly.
