Just a Quick Morning Update

We're just sort of in a holding pattern this morning.  Julianne's still on ECMO and will remain on it for another day or so.  They're letting her heart rest and seeing if the new medication for her arrhythmia will work.

They've done an echo this morning just to see if there's any major problems.  The heart function looked good, but its hard to tell when she's on ECMO because it's taking most of the blood.

Later today Julianne will have a head ultrasound to make sure that the blood thinners aren't causing any problems in the brain.  This is a precautionary measure that is done on EVERY child hooked up to ECMO.  Also, the neurologists will come and check Julianne out today.  Again, this is something done to every child on ECMO.

Thank you for all of your prayers and words of encouragement.  It's hard to believe that yesterday afternoon we were holding her and giving her her first bottle.  Now she's out of our reach again.  We're thanking God for being our comforter, for watching over Julianne through the night and for the encouraging preliminary information we've received from the doctors regarding permanent damage.  Please continue to pray for healing for Julianne.

We're praying for you guys. I've enjoyed seeing the pictures of you holding Julianne, and the video of Kent with her was so sweet! I know you guys are great parents, and our family is looking forward to meeting Julianne soon!

Praying for you 3. Don't get discouraged by this small setback. Ethan had a similar thing happen and had to be taken back to ICU after only being on "the floor" for 16 hours. He was starting to have some renal failure due to too much lasix (diuretic) and as soon as he was moved back down to ICU, he started having a heart rate around 200 and the tachyrhythmia. He never had to go on ECMO, but he was in ICU another whole week before he got be moved back to "the floor".At least you're in good hands there with the ICU team watching over your sweet girl! Hang in there, you'll be holding Julianne again before too long.

Our hearts are with you. We continue to pray for healing. We pray for strength and courage for you. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Remember you told me about other babies who had setbacks and had to go back to ICU. God prepared you. She is comforted by your voices and touch; she's never out of your reach. I love you all. Aunt Sarah

We continue to pray for everyone there. She will pull through this. She's a tough little cookie.

We're sending all our love.

Thanks so much for keeping us so well-informed! This blog keeps all of you "within our reach." And we are reaching out to God on your behalf through prayer.

"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." Psalm 55:22
