Saturday update

Well, as you've seen, Julianne is finally here! The long-awaited baby girl has been given to us! We're very grateful and thankful that she was delivered without complications and that she's healthy. As promised, here are some pictures of her, but first an update.

Her first surgery, called the Norwood procedure, is scheduled for Monday, Sept 24. The doctors have laid it out for what the it all entails, and showed us what another baby looks like after the surgery, which you'll be able to see as well. It's not pleasant, but the good news is that even though she's getting all kinds of new wires and I.V.s plugged into her, they'll wean her off them over a period of a few days. Since she is at least 8lbs, she's off to a good start, and shows that she's strong.

She started off being fed intravenously through her navel, but today she's been getting her nutrition through more I.V.s. She can't be fed normally because of something to do with her stomach and/or infections before surgery. After a few days of recovery from surgery, we might be able to feed her at the very least through a bottle.

Jessica is in good shape from the delivery. She will attest that the procedure was very very quick. She was already up and walking around by 7am the next morning. She enjoyed her hospital stay, but was discharged this morning, and we're both back at the Devon Nicole House.

Anyway, that's where we're at now. Here are some lovely pictures and even a video to tide you over until the next post. Enjoy!

What a sweetheart she is already! She looks so awake and aware, very smart for a 3-day old. She looks like a 50-50 mix of Jessica and Kent - which explains why she is so beautiful. She has a lot of hard work ahead but she looks quite strong and capable of doing her part. God bless her, and her parents, and the doctors tending to her. He is great and able to do beyond our wildest expectations!

love to all,

We prayed for you tonight at CFG and this morning in church! Everyone is aware of the big day tomorrow and will be praying for Julianne's doctors to be guided by her Creator. Praying for your comfort and peace which passes all understanding because it comes directly from the throne of God! I will pray for sleep to come to all of you tonight as well. Love and Blessing,
Kelley
